# Nomura's first-quarter profit jumps 39%, boosted by markets

TOKYO, July 29 : Nomura Holdings booked a 39 per cent rise in net income in the first quarter as its trading business benefitted from volatile markets and record high stock prices boosted wealth management fees, it said on Friday. Net income rose to 145.6 billion yen ($890.74 million) in the April-June period, compared with 104.6 billion over the same period a year ago. ($1 = 163.4600 yen)
