Starting in August, shoppers on the German Amazon online store Amazon.de and its app will be able to use PayPal's Germany Ratenzahlung BNPL service to split eligible purchases into fixed monthly payments. The move expands PayPal's BNPL business through one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms.

## **PayPal and Amazon Expand Buy Now Pay Later Service**

Paypal's BNPL service allows eligible customers to split purchases between €30 and €10,000 into 3, 6, 12 or 24 monthly payments. However, the partnership also gives Amazon users special repayment options of 36 and 48 months for larger purchases.

The service will be built into Amazon's checkout, allowing customers to review repayment terms before making their purchase. Monthly payments will be automatically deducted from a linked bank account or debit card, and users can track or repay their plans early through the PayPal app or website at zero fees.

Carola Wahl, PayPal's Managing Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, said the deal is an important step in growing the company's Pay Later service through the world's largest e-commerce retailer. Amazon DACH Country Manager Rocco Bräuniger said the new payment option gives customers more flexibility while keeping Amazon's checkout process simple.

## **New Partnership Strengthens PayPal's BNPL Expansion**

The latest payment rollout is part of PayPal's effort to expand its BNPL business globally. The company has launched similar instalment payment services in other countries including the U.S., U.K., France, and Italy. It also continues to add more merchants as demand for flexible payment options grows.

While the new partnership gives Amazon shoppers another payment option at checkout, it helps PayPal reach more global customers. PayPal noted that more than 40 million users in Germany and Austria will be able to access the service over the coming weeks. This significantly increases its user base and likely its revenue pool.
