Sharon Zackfia has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors tied to Wingstop’s underlying profit strength and improving trends despite softer sales. While second-quarter revenue modestly trailed market expectations, the company’s continued store growth and disciplined control of corporate expenses supported double-digit adjusted EBITDA expansion and an earnings per share result that exceeded both her model and Street forecasts.

Sharon Zackfia’s rating is based on management’s updated guidance that, even after acknowledging weaker-than-expected same-store sales, points to sequential comp improvement in the back half of the year. The revised outlook for comparable sales still brackets her own projections, and with year-to-date comps already down sharply, the implied stabilization ahead, combined with margin resilience from lower SG&A, underpins her view that Wingstop’s earnings power and long-term growth profile justify a Buy recommendation on the shares.

In another report released yesterday, Mizuho Securities also maintained a Buy rating on the stock with a $240.00 price target.
