# Grab to pilot on-demand autonomous shuttles in Punggol

**Existing fixed-route autonomous shuttle services will continue and remain free.**

Grab will pilot an on-demand autonomous shuttle service in Punggol within the next few months, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The service will allow riders to book an autonomous vehicle for direct travel between any existing pick-up and drop-off points served by Grab’s Routes 1 and 3.

Instead of following a fixed route, the vehicle will take the most direct route between the locations selected by the rider.

LTA said additional pick-up and drop-off points will be introduced progressively based on residents’ feedback. The pilot will begin before revenue operations commence, with Grab to provide further details.

Existing fixed-route services operated by Grab and ComfortDelGro will continue alongside the on-demand service. These rides will remain free to allow more people to experience the autonomous shuttles.

The enhancement follows feedback that the current fixed-route model does not fully meet residents’ travel needs.

Among approximately 270 Punggol residents surveyed, nearly 60% preferred being able to choose where they board and alight, whilst around 40% wanted more direct routes to their destinations.

More than 11,500 unique riders had used the autonomous shuttle services as of 12 July 2026.

In LTA’s July post-ride survey of around 900 respondents, 99% said they felt safe during the ride and would recommend the service to others.

LTA said it will continue working with Grab and ComfortDelGro on further improvements to the convenience and accessibility of autonomous shuttle services.
