# Wall Street’s Junk Drawer: The Good, The Bad, and The AI Pivot Grifters

Welcome to Wall Street’s junk drawer of 2026. If you want to understand the sheer desperation of the current tech cycle, look no further than this random assortment of unclassifiable leftovers. Half of these companies are bolting "AI" or "Bitcoin" onto their dying business models, hoping investors won't notice the stench. This is stupid and here's why: a pivot only works if you actually have the talent to pull it off, not just a flashy press release.

Let’s start with the most egregious offenders. **Jiuzi Holdings (JZXN.US)** is ostensibly a Chinese EV retail franchise. Yet somehow, this year, they’re announcing $1 million AI partnerships and a completely absurd plan to acquire $1 billion worth of Bitcoin. A car dealer buying crypto? Good luck with that. Their stock has seen a recent speculative bounce, but we’ve seen this exact grift in 2017 and 2021. Not far behind is **Hut 8 Mining (HUT.US)**, which is trying desperately to rebrand from a crypto miner to an "AI infrastructure" play, boasting a massive $19.6 billion contract pipeline for its Beacon Point data center. E. Stanley O'Neal is now chairing the board, and the narrative spin is dizzying ahead of their Q2 earnings.

Then we have the SaaS crowd slapping on the AI buzzword to stay relevant. Dustin Moskovitz’s **Asana (ASAN.US)** recently acquired StackAI and is now billing itself as an OS for "human and AI teams." Dustin, why aren't you moving faster? The enterprise market isn't going to wait around for marketing fluff. Over in the digital intelligence space, **Cellebrite (CLBT.US)** is pushing its new AI investigation product and secured FedRAMP authorization, though I find it highly interesting that CEO Thomas Hogan was recently dumping over 100,000 shares in July. Insiders sell for a reason.

There are, shockingly, real businesses buried in this pile. **Tencent Music (TME.US)** continues to be the dominant gorilla in Chinese audio. They quietly posted a solid 7.3% revenue bump in Q1 2026 to 7.9 billion RMB. No desperate AI pivots, just actual cash flow. Similarly, EdTech player **Stride (STRD.US)** is grinding out real results in online learning without needing a sci-fi narrative to keep investors happy.

Speaking of sci-fi, the rest of this bucket belongs in a speculative fiction novel. You have **Draganfly (DPRO.US)** selling drone solutions for public safety, **Xanadu Quantum Technologies (XNDU.US)** trying to make fault-tolerant quantum chips, and **Alpha Tau Medical (DRTS.US)** pushing clinical-stage cancer tech. Meanwhile, **Pixelworks (PXLW.US)** is busy getting its TrueCut Motion tech into premium cinemas this summer. They are all fascinating science projects, but in this unforgiving 2026 market, they are mostly just waiting to be acquired or run out of cash.

My verdict? If your core business requires a shiny new Bitcoin or AI press release to get noticed, you're already dead. Buy the ones with cash flow, and leave the grifters to the retail gamblers.
