According to an internal memo reviewed by *The Information*, engineers have been told to submit at least one code change each week using the tool. Indeed, Meta says that employee feedback helped improve the coding ability of Muse Spark 1.1, which is the latest version of one of its AI models. Those same corrections are also expected to help train an upcoming model known internally as Watermelon. At the same time, Meta is trying to reduce its dependence on outside coding tools. The company has reportedly spent billions of dollars this year on products such as Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. Those tools are popular with developers, but their increasing costs are pushing large companies to build more of their own software. ## **MetaCode Now Has About 7,000 Weekly Active Users** Interestingly, to make the program more engaging, Meta is giving employees different badges on their internal profiles based on how many coding changes they contribute. So far, the push appears to be gaining traction. MetaCode now has about 7,000 weekly active users, while employee feedback has led to more than 800 fixes. According to the memo, those improvements have also helped MetaCode perform better on the DeepSWE software-engineering benchmark. The next question is whether Meta plans to release the tool outside the company. CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said Meta has more coding and productivity products on its roadmap. However, Meta would still face tough competition from Claude Code and Codex. ## **What Is the Price Target for Meta?** Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on META stock based on 39 Buys, five Holds, and zero Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below.
