# Cash Cows vs. Storytellers: From Corning to Air Taxis, Who is Faking It?

I’ve said it a million times: when you dump a totally unrelated group of companies into one bucket, the underlying truth of the market comes screaming out. Look at this bizarre hodgepodge—everything from semiconductor testing behemoths to flying car dreamers, to traditional gold and uranium miners. This is a stark reflection of the 2026 market: a brutal divide between those quietly generating massive cash and those still begging you to believe in their PowerPoint decks.

This is stupid and here's why: the market long ago lost its patience for 2021-era hype. Investors want cash flow, and they want it yesterday.

Look at the companies actually laying the tracks for the tech industry. Corning (GLWG.US) is ticking upward recently, reporting Q2 2026 core sales of USD 4.74 billion, up 17% year-over-year. They are aggressively targeting USD 20 billion in annual sales by the end of 2026. Then there’s Teradyne (TER.US), the ultimate silent operator. Semiconductor testing isn't glamorous, but Q2 sales skyrocketing 104% to USD 1.33 billion absolutely is. They raised their full-year guidance, strongly outperforming the sector. These companies don’t trend on social media, but they run Silicon Valley's plumbing.

The software and service survivors are also grinding it out. GitLab (GTLB.US) posted Q1 FY27 total revenue of USD 264.2 million, up 23%. Developers need functional DevSecOps platforms, not buzzwords, and GitLab is delivering. And speaking of survivors—yes, BlackBerry (BB.US) is still alive, and its stock has seen a massive surge this year. Their QNX unit grew 26% to USD 72 million. Stop asking if they make phones; they are a cybersecurity firm now. Meanwhile, UP Fintech Holding (TIGR.US) continues to quietly harvest retail trading fees. As long as retail trading persists, the brokerages will keep collecting their cut.

Then we have the storytellers—the ones still burning cash in pursuit of the future.

Joby Aviation (JOBY.US) just signed a 45,000-square-foot lease in Texas and partnered with Atoms for vertiports. Sure, Q2 revenue came in at USD 38.6 million, and they raised their full-year guidance. But flying taxis for the masses? Good luck with that. Until battery tech and regulators fully align, this remains a highly speculative endeavor.

Speaking of batteries, American Battery Technology Company (ABTC.US) just scored a massive lifeline. After posting its first positive gross margin in Q3 FY26, it secured a USD 115 million DOE grant. Having the US government underwrite your battery recycling plant beats lobbying venture capitalists any day.

Finally, when tech gets too loud, capital retreats to the traditional bunkers.

Barrick Gold (GOLD.US) is the quintessential boomer asset. You ignore it until you need it. But Cameco (CCJ.US)? They are holding all the cards in the nuclear renaissance. With Q2 2026 revenue hitting CAD 814 million and the Cigar Lake mine restarting, Cameco knows exactly what it has. Tech giants need infinite power for AI data centers, and Cameco controls the uranium. They occupy the core position of the value chain. As for Battalion Oil (BATL.US)? The Texas driller just rolled its debt to 2029. Sometimes, surviving the cycle in the Permian Basin is victory enough.

The bottom line is simple: stop falling for the bluster. Find the companies with positive cash flow, government checks, or control over fundamental resources. Everyone else is just making noise.
