# HSBC Advances Multimarket Share Buy-Back, Cancelling Nearly 3 Million Shares

HSBC Holdings ( (GB:HSBA) ) has provided an update.

HSBC Holdings plc has continued its share buy-back programme, purchasing 1,340,000 ordinary shares on U.K. venues and 498,800 shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 11 August 2026 for cancellation. The trades, executed via BNP Paribas, were carried out as on-exchange transactions in the U.K. and as off-market under U.K. law but on-market under Hong Kong rules, reflecting HSBC’s multi-jurisdictional listing structure.

Since the buy-back commenced on 5 August 2026, HSBC has repurchased a total of 2,964,800 shares, with an approximate consideration of US$61.0 million, leaving its issued ordinary share capital and total voting rights at 17,182,223,842 shares. The ongoing buy-back underscores the bank’s capital management strategy and may support earnings per share and shareholder value, while highlighting its compliance with differing regulatory regimes across its main listing venues.
