# 3 Late-Afternoon Trends Taking Over Wall Street

As the **afternoon buzz subsides** and we swing into late-afternoon trading, let's take a quick look at a few of the biggest trends circling Wall Street right now:

## C-Suite Life on (Flight) Deck

- **American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL)** is sliding 1.5% this afternoon amid discourse surrounding the company's latest c-suite clear out. CEO Robert Isom said the airliner is "entering a defining moment" as it saw the departure of three leadership staff and the addition of four new faces.
- Isom also noted the "**meaningful gap**" between where the firm is now, to where it hopes to be in relation to its rivals. Today's drop is pulling AAL back below its year-to-date breakeven level.

## Open the Door for AI's Sam Altman

- OpenAI's Sam Altman is making headlines after saying the prospect of working at Goldman Sachs (GS) sounds "unbelievably terrible" now, despite being offered an internship during his time at Stanford.
- Ironically, OpenAI has been pulling raw talent from investment firms, bringing in more than 100 former investment bankers to help build model workflows so far.

## SpaceX is Out of This World

- **Space Exploration Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX)** stock is up 8.6% to trade at $144.39 today, after the aerospace giant launched 24 Starlink satellites on the Falcon 9 rocket. This marks the company's 51st flight off the West Coast in the U.S. this year.
- Today's pop has SPCX breaking above the $140 level, an area not conquered since mid-July. SPCX has struggled since its June i**nitial public offering (IPO)**, now off 15.7% for the quarter.
