# S Korea Pledges Regulatory Easing to Support Three Mega Projects; KOSPI Surges Over 3%, Rebounding More Than 20% From Last Month's Trough

South Korea's finance ministry said the country has pledged to ease a series of regulatory measures, including administrative procedures, to support three mega projects involving semiconductor production clusters, physical AI and AI data centers. The measures are expected to generate a combined investment of KRW4.2 trillion (approximately USD2.96 billion).

The finance ministry said it will swiftly resolve investment-related challenges, focusing on projects that are ready to proceed but have been hindered by regulatory barriers, such as revising existing building permit requirements.

As of this morning (13 Aug), South Korea's KOSPI index surged 3.33% to 6,798 points, rebounding more than 20% from its trough at the end of Jul. SK Hynix rose more than 6%, while Samsung Electronics gained more than 3%. (mn/u)
