# Kai Tak Smart and Green Mass Transit System Tender Closes Today; CRRC Seeks to Participate in Project as System Supplier

The tender for the Kai Tak Smart and Green Mass Transit System closed today (14th). Multiple companies reportedly submitted bids, including a consortium formed by MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK) +0.760 (+2.351%) Short selling $56.33M; Ratio 53.445% and BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) -0.550 (-0.622%) Short selling $155.02M; Ratio 14.580% , as well as a consortium formed by SHK PPT (00016.HK) -1.000 (-0.850%) Short selling $84.93M; Ratio 28.700% and TRANSPORT INT'L (00062.HK) +0.020 (+0.213%) Short selling $7.54K; Ratio 5.749% .

Among them, MTR CORPORATION confirmed that it had submitted a bid. MTR CORPORATION CEO Jeny Yeung said the company has been actively participating in Hong Kong's development and will bid for the Kai Tak Smart and Green Mass Transit System project. 

She said MTR CORPORATION already serves local residents through Kai Tak and Sung Wong Toi stations, and believes the company can leverage its extensive experience to support transport infrastructure development in the district. MTR CORPORATION and BYD COMPANY will purportedly compete for the project through BYD COMPANY's self-developed "SkyShuttle" system.

CRRC's subsidiary Hunan CRRC Zhixing Technology revealed that it will cooperate with a Hong Kong developer to participate in the project as a system supplier. Regional General Manager Yang Tao said its "Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit" technology does not require steel tracks. Powered by rubber tires, the system can automatically travel along a "virtual track" based on road markings, offering high route flexibility and reducing supporting infrastructure costs.
