# Tesla Stock (TSLA) Jumps on Plans for 'Flying' Roadster Stunt

Shares of Tesla (TSLA) rose about 2% to over $345 per share on Friday morning. This followed a report by *The Information* that the EV giant plans to show off the "flying" capabilities of its next-generation Roadster supercar.

## **'You Will Get Flying Cars'**

According to the report, the stunt could be conducted at SpaceX's (SPCX) testing site in McGregor, Texas, as early as this month. The car's flying ability is expected to be powered by SpaceX's cold-gas thruster. This is a simple rocket engine type.

Tesla built its original Roadster between 2008 and 2012. It was the first electric sports car to use lithium-ion battery cells. However, the company produced only a limited number of the expensive vehicle to focus on mass-market electric cars.

Reports of the planned demonstration come days after CEO Elon Musk commented on a Twitter post. The post had said Tesla customers were promised flying cars but only got superintelligence features. In response, Musk wrote, "You will get flying cars."
