# Howard Lutnick: US Govt Not Want Apple to Buy Memory Chips from CN

The US government does not want Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) to purchase memory chips from China, believing there must be other solutions to the chip issue, rather than having major US companies use China-made chips, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told The Wall Street Journal. The US government has conveyed this message to Apple.

Apple has reportedly been testing chips from CXMT (688825.SH) 0.000 (0.000%) and YMTC, which is viewed as a signal that Apple may adopt chips from Chinese companies in devices sold in China in the future.

A White House spokesperson said bringing semiconductor manufacturing back to the US is a top priority for the US President, and related policies have already brought hundreds of billions of USD in investment to the chip industry. The White House will continue to work toward bringing more investment and job opportunities to the American people while safeguarding national security.
