# QUICK SPARK: 30-Year Treasury Yields Jump to 5.31%, Highest Since June 2007

The bond market is flashing a warning that investors cannot easily ignore. The 30-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.31% on Monday, reaching its highest level since June 2007.

The move is notable because long-term yields are rising even as expectations for a near-term Federal Reserve hike have eased. 

**CME FedWatch Tool** shows there’s only a 32% chance of a 25-basis-point rate hike in September, down from 53% a week ago.

That suggests investors are demanding more compensation for holding long-duration debt, amid concerns over government deficits and heavy borrowing.

The **iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF** (NASDAQ:TLT) dropped to $81.38 on Monday, hitting the lowest levels since June 2004.
