# Marriott Pipeline Hits Record as Norwegian's Debt Load Eclipses Strong Q2 Yields

The US travel and leisure sector is navigating a complex Q2 2026 earnings season, where solid consumer demand collides with lingering balance sheet pressures.

Marriott International (MAR.US) delivered steady top-line growth, reporting a 3.4% increase in global RevPAR for the second quarter. The hospitality giant—buoyed by a 5.0% RevPAR jump in the US and Canada—posted $844 million in adjusted net income. It also expanded its footprint aggressively, adding roughly 17,900 net rooms and pushing its global pipeline to a record 629,000 rooms.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH.US) faces a harsher reality despite beating expectations. The operator saw Q2 total revenue climb 4.9% to $2.6 billion, generating $666 million in adjusted EBITDA. But the numbers weren't enough to mask debt concerns—shares tumbled 6.8% post-earnings as high leverage and a forecasted 5% drop in net yields weighed heavily on investor sentiment.

Meanwhile, rival Carnival Corp (CCL.US) is fine-tuning its long-term operational framework. The cruise giant accelerated its emissions reduction goals in August, now targeting a 25% cut in greenhouse gas intensity by 2029—pulling the timeline forward by a full year as it maps out strategic 2028-2029 sailings.
