# WeChat Pay HK Expands Cross-border Payments in Japan

WeChat Pay HK announced a partnership with Japanese e-wallet au PAY to provide users with a cross-border HKD electronic payment solution, extending direct HKD settlement services to au PAY's merchant network.

Users can scan au PAY QR codes at participating au PAY merchants across Japan, with the system automatically converting JPY spending into HKD based on real-time exchange rates for deduction. All transactions are free of handling fees.

WeChat Pay HK has partnered with more than 100 popular merchants in Japan, covering diversified scenarios including shopping, dining, transportation and entertainment. 

Participating merchants include the three major convenience store chains 7-Eleven, Lawson and FamilyMart; department stores Hankyu Department Store and Daimaru; lifestyle retailers Donki, UNIQLO and GU; transportation services JR East and DiDi; and restaurants Ichiran Ramen, Kani Doraku and Terakoya Honpo.
