Zijin Gold International surges 11% as Hong Kong gold miners rally
Zijin Gold International (2259.HK) surged 11% during regular trading on Thursday to HK$148.40, leading Hong Kong gold miners higher. The stock, the Hong Kong-listed gold arm of Zijin Mining, touched an intraday high of HK$149.00 with turnover of about HK$330 million on roughly 2.25 million shares traded.
The rally tracked a broad advance in the gold sector. Peers gained sharply in early trading, with Lao Pu Gold up 7%, lifting group sentiment. Overnight strength in U.S. equities, including a 6.4% jump in the Nasdaq Biotechnology Index, further supported risk appetite and spilled over into Hong Kong-listed gold names.
