description: "TSMC shares rose as its 2027 capital expenditure forecast reached $85 billion, signaling a major bet on the sustained AI chip boom. This aggressive investment follows an increase in the 2026 capex range to $60-$64 billion. Management emphasizes verifying actual data-center usage rather than just orders. While July revenue surged 44.7%, the stock trades significantly above its fair value estimate, leaving little margin for error if AI momentum slows."

# TSMC Rises as 2027 Capex Forecast Reaches $85 Billion

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing , the world's largest contract chipmaker, climbed approximately 0.5% to $414.40 Thursday afternoon as estimates for its 2027 capital spending shot as high as $85 billion. That is not routine expansion. It is a full-throttle bet that the AI chip boom still has years left to run.

The company has already raised its official 2026 capital-spending range from $52 billion$56 billion to $60 billion$64 billion. During its second-quarter earnings discussion, management made one point crystal clear: it is watching data-center construction, server deployments and final demandnot simply trusting customers' chip orders. TSMC wants proof that processors are being installed and used, not piled onto warehouse shelves.

An $85 billion spending bill would be a monster wager on Nvidia (NVDA), Apple (AAPL), AMD (AMD), Broadcom (AVGO) and hyperscaler-designed chips continuing to devour advanced manufacturing capacity.

For now, the numbers back the aggression: July revenue exploded 44.7% to NT$467.58 billion. But investors are already paying up for perfection. At $414.40, the stock trades 29.73% above its GF Value estimate of $319.43, leaving little cushion if AI spending loses even a flicker of momentum.
