# Duan Yongping: I Basically Don't Read Financial Reports

On August 20, POP MART released its H1 2026 earnings report, showing revenue of RMB 17.17 billion (+23.8% year-on-year) and net profit of RMB 5.04 billion (+8.9% year-on-year), both falling short of expectations. Company founder Wang Ning predicted that pressures in the second half of the year would be greater than in the first half, and it is highly likely that the company will miss the 20% full-year growth target set at the beginning of the year.

The slowdown in performance and doubts about the full-year target quickly sparked debate in investment communities. When asked for his views on POP MART's semi-annual report and whether its overseas revenue performance in Q2 was too poor, Duan Yongping, a major shareholder holding 102.576 million shares (accounting for 7.7% of the position), stated: "As a shareholder, I actually think it's quite good."

Duan Yongping's attitude toward financial reports was even more distinct. When asked which accounting indicators he primarily looks at in financial reports, he replied: "I basically don't read financial reports."

Someone seized the opportunity to praise him, saying, "No moves beat some moves; if you understand the company, you naturally don't need to read financial reports." Duan Yongping countered with a question: "If you don't understand the company, what do you look at? The financial reports?"
