# Earnings Cliff Hits Hong Kong Industrials as BYD Electronic Faces Downgrades

A severe earnings contraction is rippling through a diverse group of Hong Kong-listed industrial and service entities, driven by softening downstream demand and intensifying sector-wide competition. The most glaring data point comes from LK Technology (558.HK), which reported a staggering 89.2% year-over-year plunge in net profit to just HKD 37.86 million for its fiscal year ending March 2026. While the die-casting machine manufacturer is attempting to pivot toward the AI and humanoid robot supply chain, its core revenue shrank 3.7% to HKD 5.61 billion, underscoring the broader hesitation in capital expenditure across global manufacturing sectors.

The pessimistic outlook on hardware and manufacturing supply chains is also weighing heavily on BYD Electronic (285.HK). Despite previous optimism surrounding its liquid cooling and power supply segments, the electronics manufacturing giant is now battling a wave of analyst downgrades. UOB Kay Hian recently slashed its rating to 'Sell', while Jefferies significantly cut its valuation target, signaling deep skepticism about near-term margin recovery. This cautious sentiment cascades down to more opaque or struggling tickers within the same non-thematic basket, such as Yunding HK (45961.HK), which continues to navigate the market with virtually zero operational visibility.

Media and legacy entities in this grouping fare no better. Cathay Group Holdings (6655.HK)—formerly Cathay Media and Education—remains bogged down by its recent past, having weathered a massive RMB 190 million comprehensive loss driven by steep impairment provisions in its film and television arm. Rounding out this fractured sector is the legacy footprint of CAR Inc. (699.HK), which was taken private and delisted back in 2021 following a high-profile corporate scandal, serving as a lingering reminder of the swiftness with which market capital can evaporate.
