# RayNeo iO Without a Camera Aims to Capture Users' 24 Hours

On August 21, RayNeo Innovation launched its new AI glasses, the iO, with an official price of 2,499 yuan and an introductory price starting from 1,996 yuan.

Unlike the previous V series, which focused on first-person perspective shooting, the iO eliminates the camera, concentrating its selling points on near-eye display, voice recording, and proactive AI. The company stated that the product weighs as little as 34 grams and supports two days of battery life.

This represents a further refinement of RayNeo's product segmentation for AI glasses.

In recent years, RayNeo has established several relatively clear product lines: the Air and GT series focus on movie viewing and large-screen entertainment; the V series enters the photography market; and the X series handles full-color display and spatial computing.

The iO targets daily wear, aiming to transform AI glasses from devices "taken out when needed" into terminals that users can wear continuously in work, commuting, and social scenarios.

This also explains why the iO does not continue to stack capabilities such as cameras, full-color displays, or spatial interaction.

Compared to shooting glasses like the V4, the iO reduces visual capture hardware to achieve a lighter weight and an appearance closer to everyday eyewear. Compared to the X series, its display capabilities are more geared towards presenting information such as weather, schedules, to-do lists, notifications, subtitles, and teleprompter text, rather than providing a complete spatial computing experience.

At the software level, the iO focuses on "memory." The product can transcribe meetings and conversations into text, generate summaries and to-do lists, and support real-time subtitles, translation, teleprompting, and historical record queries.

RayNeo stated that the system forms personal context based on sound, location, and other information, providing prompts in scenarios such as conversations and meetings.

The value of such features lies not in replacing single AI Q&A sessions on smartphones, but in reducing the cost for users to repeatedly describe background contexts after accumulating continuous personal information.

RayNeo's choice comes at a stage where AI glasses development paths are clearly diverging.

One category of display-less smart glasses relies on cameras, microphones, and open audio, primarily addressing needs for photography, calls, and voice assistants; another category attempts to project information directly into the user's field of view via optical waveguides.

According to Counterpoint data, in the first quarter of 2026, global shipments of AR glasses and display-less smart glasses increased by 136% and 210% year-over-year, respectively. Among AR glasses, the share of optical waveguide solutions rose from 18% in the same period last year to 42%.

The iO sits at the intersection of these two paths: it retains display capabilities but abandons the camera; it emphasizes AI memory but does not position itself as a miniature AR computer. For RayNeo, this is a new product line distinct from movie viewing, photography, and spatial computing.

For the industry, competition is shifting from "who can put AI into glasses first" to "who can make users willing to wear glasses longer without feeling disturbed."
