# SanDisk (SNDK) Stock Slips Despite New NAS SSDs for Prosumers and Small Businesses

SanDisk (SNDK) stock slipped 0.65% on Friday, even after the data storage company announced two new SSDs built for network-attached storage systems. The SanDisk NAS 600 SATA SSD and SanDisk NAS 800 NVMe SSD are aimed at prosumers and small businesses that need fast storage for large files and shared work. Both drives are built for high use and can run in NAS systems around the clock.

The SanDisk NAS 600 SATA SSD is aimed at users moving from hard drives to SSD storage. It offers up to 2,500 TBW and up to 4TB of storage. SanDisk noted that the drive can reach read speeds of up to 560MB per second. It is made for multi-user work and can also serve as a cache or storage tier in a NAS setup.

The SanDisk NAS 800 NVMe SSD is built for more demanding use. It uses PCIe 5.0 and offers up to 14 PBW of endurance on the 7.68TB model. SanDisk said it can reach up to 14,900MB per second in sequential reads. The drive is aimed at tasks such as databases, virtual machines, content work and local AI.

"The way users employ NAS has fundamentally changed," said Anil Moolchandani, Vice President of Product Management at SanDisk. He said users are managing larger data sets and need storage that can run all day. Both drives will go on sale in September. The NAS 600 will start at $179.99, while the NAS 800 will start at $309.99.

## **SanDisk Targets Smaller Customers Amid the AI Boom**

SanDisk's decision to focus on smaller customers during the AI boom makes sense. AI is constantly changing, with new developments making it easier for non-professional users to take advantage of. With that comes an increased demand for the ability to host AI agents at home or in small businesses.

However, one key problem with this has been the demand for data storage devices. AI data centers have scooped up SSDs and HDDs for their AI servers. This has left smaller customers paying much more for data storage options. If SanDisk can reach these customers, it could extend its reach to even more clients.

## **Is SanDisk Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?**

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for SanDisk is Strong Buy, based on 14 Buy and two Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average SNDK stock price target of $2,203.13, representing a potential 38.55% upside for the shares. (See **SNDK Stock Forecast**)
