# Disney Stock (NYSE:DIS) Notches Up Despite Lost Hopes for a Speedier Trial

Entertainment giant Disney (DIS) is taking the fight directly to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as it tries to block plans for early license review on its corporate-owned stations. But United States District Judge Loren AliKhan shut down hopes for a faster trial, refusing to provide a temporary restraining order. The news did not mean much concern to shareholders, though, as Disney shares notched up fractionally in Friday morning's trading. Disney has seen a 9.71% loss in its share price over the past year.

## **Not That Speedy a Trial**

A *Reuters* report noted that Disney called on judges to issue a temporary restraining order on the FCC, keeping it from calling for early license review. But the FCC noted to Judge AliKhan that such a move was unnecessary, agreeing to provide 48 hours of notice before issuing orders to refer the Disney licenses for a hearing. The judge did note, however, that if the FCC did issue that hearing order, both sides would need to return to court the next day so that the court could hear arguments over a proper temporary restraining order. Disney did not comment on the matter, and the FCC seemed satisfied.

## **Not Lands, but Biomes**

Disney has an unusual new plan prepared for its upcoming park in Abu Dhabi, as it plans to separate out the sections into "biomes" rather than its standard "lands." The park looks to incorporate the natural landscapes of Abu Dhabi, which includes the obvious sand as well as coral reefs, among other things. Early concept art includes a castle that looks more like a crystal spire than a traditional European castle. The design is unconventional, but that early concept art also provides a glimpse at a Disney park that is very much unlike the others in its arsenal. That could represent a major new draw at a time when Disney parks are starting to prove inaccessible for many regular park-goers.

## **Is Disney Stock a Buy or Hold?**

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on DIS stock based on 20 Buys and one Hold assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. The average DIS price target of $128.35 per share implies 19.21% upside potential.
