# Hong Kong Stock Midday Review: Hang Seng TECH Index down 3.84% at midday, tech stocks generally plummet

On August 24th, Jinshi Data reported that the main stock indices in Hong Kong experienced fluctuations and declines in the morning session, with the Hang Seng TECH Index dropping over 4% at one point. By the midday close, the Hang Seng Index fell by 2.09%, and the Hang Seng TECH Index decreased by 3.84%. In terms of sector stocks, technology stocks generally plummeted in the morning, with Alibaba (09988.HK) down nearly 10%, Baidu (09888.HK) and Xiaomi Corporation (01810.HK) down 4%, Tencent Holdings Limited (00700.HK) down nearly 3%, and Meituan (03690.HK) and JD.com (09618.HK) both declining. Additionally, the performance of storage semiconductors, optical communications, and PCB concept stocks was also poor, with MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) dropping over 9% and Z.AI (02513.HK) falling over 8%
