# Trending | BABA Plummets 8% last Friday, Some Put options Soar 2200%

On August 21, Eastern Time, Alibaba options saw a total of 627254 contracts traded, with calls accounting for 80% and puts making up 19%.

Alibaba has 2486878 contracts outstanding, with calls accounting for 62% and puts making up 37%.

The top volume gainer was the 130 dollars Call option expiring on August 28, 2026, with 10665 contracts traded.

On the news front, BABA.US closed at 119.34 on Aug 21 with 32.5M shares traded. The 8% decline triggered massive bearish positioning, with select put options surging 2200%. Heavy volume and aggressive downside hedging drove the recent price volatility.
