Yangtze Optical Fibre climbs 5% in Hong Kong on strong turnover, peer divergence

HK Stock Market Update
Aug 25, 2026 at 01:37 AM

Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (6869.HK) climbed 5% in Hong Kong trading to HK$146, with the stock drawing heavy buying interest shortly after the open and advancing more than 3% within five minutes.

The shares opened at HK$137.70 before touching an intraday high of HK$148.50, with turnover reaching roughly HK$865 million on about 6.06 million shares, signaling active participation by institutional and retail investors alike.

The rally followed the company's release of interim results on Aug. 24 alongside peers Zhongji Innolight and Accelink Technologies. While Zhongji Innolight was sold off despite a 241% year-on-year surge in net profit — weighed down by weaker operating cash flow and elevated inventory — Yangtze Optical bucked the trend and attracted net inflows. Broader support for the fiber-optic sector came after Shanghai unveiled a new industrialization plan emphasizing chipmaking and computing power infrastructure, viewed as structurally positive for fiber and cable demand.
