# AI Tailwinds Propel Hardware Providers While Legacy Sectors Face Margin Pressure

The divergence in 2026 corporate earnings starkly illustrates the premium placed on artificial intelligence infrastructure against a backdrop of macroeconomic softening.

Penguin Solutions (PENG.US) is riding the AI hardware wave, posting a record $479 million in fiscal third-quarter net sales—a 48% year-over-year jump. The company raised its full-year guidance, underscoring the sustained capital expenditure cycle in data centers. Similarly exposed to the data center buildout, Vishay Precision Group (VPG.US) reported $83.9 million in fiscal second-quarter net revenue, up 11.7%. The precision sensor maker also secured an early supplier nomination for next-generation humanoid robots slated for late 2026 production.

In the environmental services sector, Waste Management (WM.US) delivered $6.23 billion in first-quarter revenue, a 3.5% increase, alongside a 13.5% jump in net income. The company is advancing its $3 billion sustainability investment strategy, moving its future landfill project into automated equipment testing.

Conversely, the autonomous aviation space faces acute regulatory headwinds. EHang Holdings (EH.US) saw its second-quarter revenue plunge 43.9% year-over-year to 11.5 million yuan, delivering just 36 eVTOL units. The company withdrew its full-year guidance, citing tightening low-altitude airspace regulations in China, even as it secured regulatory sandbox approval for trial flights in Hong Kong.

Traditional consumer staples and healthcare remain under pressure. General Mills (GIS.US) reported a 5% drop in fiscal 2026 net sales to $18.4 billion, swinging to an $88 million full-year net loss as it divested its North American yogurt operations. Cardio Diagnostics Holdings (CRDU.US) saw first-quarter revenue collapse 97% to just $2,680, highlighting severe commercialization hurdles due to a lack of Medicare reimbursement codes.

Elsewhere in the digital space, Nakamoto Games (NAKA.US) posted a wider-than-expected Q2 EPS loss of $6.56. DeFi Development Corp. (DFDV.US) saw insider buying, with a major shareholder acquiring over 10,000 shares in August to increase their stake.

Smaller entities like ORBS (ORBS.US) and NVA (NVA.US) continue to navigate tightened liquidity environments as investors increasingly consolidate capital into established cash-flow generators.
