# AMD May Have Found Its Next Big AI Growth Engine

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD, Financials) might be looking at a wider AI play than just selling accelerators. Raymond James upgraded AMD to Strong Buy, saying agentic AI could be a big new growth driver for the server CPU industry.

The firm predicts the market to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 44% over five years to just under $201 billion by 2030. What's interesting is where that growth could come from.

And as AI agents grow more ubiquitous they will require CPUs to host workloads and coordinate accelerators and handle the continual back and forth that is required to perform jobs. Raymond James thinks those agentic workloads alone might represent around $85 billion of the market by 2030.

Another avenue for AMD to cash in on AI spending, even if it's not in the GPU competition. AMD has a good blend of earnings leverage, data-center exposure and market-share improvements, the analyst said.

The bigger challenge is if AI bots scale fast enough to justify such predictions. If they do, then AMD's CPU business might be a far larger part of the AI story than many investors are giving it credit for now.
