# HSBC Advances Global Share Buy-back With New UK and Hong Kong Repurchases

An announcement from HSBC Holdings ( (GB:HSBA) ) is now available.

HSBC Holdings plc has continued executing its share buy-back programme announced earlier in August 2026, repurchasing ordinary shares on both UK trading venues and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The latest transactions involved 200,000 shares purchased in the UK and 325,600 shares in Hong Kong on 25 August 2026, at volume-weighted average prices of £15.0886 and HK$163.2150 respectively.

Since the start of the buy-back, HSBC has repurchased 19,252,614 shares for an approximate total consideration of US$396.8 million, modestly reducing its outstanding share capital to about 17.17 billion shares. The ongoing cancellations signal continued capital return to shareholders and may support earnings per share and capital optimisation, underlining management’s confidence in the bank’s financial position and long-term strategy.
