## Kylie Jenner’s X Account Used To Promote Solana Memecoin Before 90% Crash

A post from Kylie Jenner’s X account sent crypto traders towards an obscure Solana memecoin before the token lost more than 90% of its value within minutes, turning a celebrity social media account into the centre of another suspected crypto scam.

The posts were later deleted, but not before attracting about 83,000 views and pushing the token’s market capitalisation to roughly $1.21 million.

## Kylie Jenner Account Promoted A Token It Did Not Appear To Endorse

Jenner’s verified X account, which has about 39.5 million followers, published two posts on 24 August 2026 that differed sharply from her usual content.

The first directed followers towards a Pump.fun page associated with a token called kylie under the username “cutekjenner”, while a second post shared the token’s ticker and Solana contract address.

The posts received roughly 50,000 and 33,000 views respectively before they disappeared from the account.

The sudden promotion of a newly launched memecoin led community members to question whether the account had been compromised.

Reports from several crypto news outlets subsequently described the incident as an unauthorised takeover rather than a genuine endorsement from Jenner.

## The Token Reached $1.21 Million Before Falling Below $120,000

The attention generated by the posts quickly translated into trading activity.

The kylie token’s market capitalisation climbed to about $1.21 million while the posts were still visible.

Once the messages were removed, the buying activity faded and the token’s value collapsed.

Some reports put the decline at 68%, while others reported a fall of more than 90%, with its market capitalisation dropping below $120,000.

The rapid reversal left traders who bought during the surge facing heavy losses, particularly those who entered after the token had already gained attention from Jenner’s large following.

Several other tokens using the kylie name were also trading on Solana within hours, making it harder for users to distinguish the promoted asset from copycat tokens.

## Why Are Solana Memecoins Being Used In Account Takeovers?

The incident follows a familiar pattern in the crypto market.

Attackers first gain control of a high-profile social media account, then use its audience to promote a newly created token and provide a direct route for followers to buy it.

Solana is particularly suited to this approach because new tokens can be created and traded quickly and at relatively low cost.

Pump.fun also allows users to launch tokens with little friction, giving attackers a way to create an asset and begin promoting it almost immediately.

The combination gives scammers a short window in which a trusted account can generate demand before the compromise is detected.

## Kylie Jenner Is The Latest High-Profile Account Target

The Jenner incident is the third reported case in recent weeks involving a major X account being used to promote a Solana memecoin.

On 12 July 2026, hackers took control of the X accounts of SpaceX and Starlink, which together had about 3.6 million followers, and promoted a token called SCATMAN.

The attacker reportedly minted 10 trillion SCATMAN tokens, sold them through two wallets and made about $135,000.

Lookonchain later traced the funds.

On 23 July, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev’s X account was also compromised and used to promote a fake token called Vladhood, which was presented as the supposed mascot of a nonexistent “Robinhood Chain”.

Reports said the exploiter made roughly $1.2 million from the scheme.

Tenev later said the breach involved a fraudster who socially engineered X’s customer support team, allowing the attacker to bypass two-factor authentication and login alerts.

The three incidents involved different accounts and brands, but followed a similar sequence: compromise a trusted account, promote a new token, attract buyers and profit from the resulting surge.

## X Has Not Explained How Jenner’s Account Was Compromised

The exact method used to gain access to Jenner’s account remains unclear.

Available reports have not established whether the incident involved phishing, a compromised third-party application, social engineering or another method.

X has also not publicly explained how the breach occurred or whether its anti-scam account lock system, which is intended to detect suspicious activity on high-follower verified accounts, was activated.

Jenner and her representatives had not publicly addressed the incident at the time of reporting.

Robinhood and SpaceX previously confirmed that their accounts had been compromised and secured, but neither has disclosed whether the same support-related technique used in the Tenev case was involved.

## No Arrests Reported As Crypto Wallets Remain Unrecovered

No arrests have been announced in connection with the three reported account takeovers.

The wallets linked to the SCATMAN and Vladhood schemes, as well as the wallets involved in the kylie token activity, had not been publicly reported as recovered.

The repeated incidents have raised concerns over how easily access to a major social media account can be converted into a short-lived trading opportunity, particularly when the promoted asset can be launched and traded within minutes.
