# Report: Huawei Markets AI Data Center Built With Ascend Chips to Egypt; Washington Said to Urge NVIDIA Corporation  and Others to Bid

According to Bloomberg, citing sources, Huawei has proposed to the Egyptian government the construction of an AI data center for military, surveillance and other public sector uses. Tender documents mentioned that the data center would use 1,408 top-end Ascend 950 series chips for AI training cloud services, while another 600 chips of the same model or the 910B model would be deployed in two inference clusters. A 12-month plan has also been formulated to build the infrastructure locally. If Huawei wins the bid, it would become a key AI supplier in Egypt.

The report added that the US government is aware of Huawei's participation in the Egyptian government's tender. Washington officials are formulating countermeasures, including encouraging companies such as NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) , Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD.US) and Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) to form a US consortium to compete in the bidding.
