# Hong Kong Stocks Close Lower: Hang Seng Dips 0.34% as Innovative Drugs & Semiconductors Buck Trend; Mixue Ice Cream Tumbles Over 8%

Hong Kong's three major indices closed in the red on August 27. The Hang Seng Index edged down **0.34%** or **87.23 points** to **25,565.74**, with total turnover reaching approximately **HK$233.5 billion**. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell **0.51%** to **8,490.31**, while the Hang Seng Tech Index slipped **0.13%** to **4,620.29**.

On the sector front, innovative drug stocks led the gains, with Hansoh Pharmaceutical soaring **16%** after earnings; semiconductor and AI-related names rallied broadly on Nvidia's stellar results, as Montage Technology surged over **12%** and Zhipu climbed nearly **13%**. On the flip side, new consumer plays weakened, with Mixue Group plunging more than **8%** post-results; autonomous driving stocks retreated, led by a **7.5%** drop in CI Holdings. Big tech diverged — Baidu rallied over **5%** while Xiaomi shed more than **3%**.

**Innovative Drugs Lead; Hansoh Pharma Surges 16%**

At the close, Hansoh Pharmaceutical (03692.HK) skyrocketed **16%** to **HK$36.82** on turnover exceeding **HK$1.2 billion**. WuXi Biologics (02269.HK) dipped **0.5%** to **HK$50.50**, while JD Health (06618.HK) fell **1.5%** to **HK$36.74**.

Morgan Stanley raised its target price on Hansoh to **HK$48** and maintained an Overweight rating following the company's interim results, citing robust innovative drug sales, declining expense ratios, and solid investment gains — though partially offset by rising R&D expenditure. The broker views Hansoh as a high-quality biopharma with attractive valuation, bullish on its therapeutic area positioning and internationalization strategy.

**Semiconductor & AI Plays Rally; Montage Tech Jumps Over 12%**

At the close, Montage Technology (06809.HK) surged **12.3%** to **HK$301.20**; Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK) rose **4.5%** to **HK$122.80**; SMIC (00981.HK) added **2.3%** to **HK$71.30**. Among AI concept stocks, Zhipu (02513.HK) soared **12.6%** to **HK$1,160** with turnover exceeding **HK$7.6 billion**.

Nvidia reported Q2 revenue of **US$96.22 billion**, up **106%** year-on-year and beating market expectations, while issuing strong Q3 growth guidance — lifting global AI and semiconductor sentiment. Meanwhile, A-share semiconductor stocks also performed strongly, with Montage Technology's A-shares hitting the daily limit. China's integrated circuit industry profits surged **18.5 times** in the first seven months, further fueling the Hong Kong chip stock rally.

**Mixue Group Slumps Over 8% Post-Earnings as Revenue Nearly Flatlines**

At the close, Mixue Group (02097.HK) tumbled **8.4%** to **HK$227.80**, having plunged over **12%** intraday to a low of **HK$217.60**, with turnover surpassing **HK$410 million**. China Feihe (06186.HK) sank nearly **10%** to **HK$2.94**.

Mixue posted H1 revenue of **RMB15.22 billion**, up just **2.3%** year-on-year and far below market expectations. Net profit fell **14.7%** YoY, marking the company's first half-year profit decline since listing. Selling expenses rose **23%** and administrative expenses surged **39.4%**, driving significant expense ratio expansion against near-zero revenue growth. Despite a proposed special dividend of **RMB2.65 per share**, the market flagged concerns over declining per-store revenue and rising costs.

**Autonomous Driving Stocks Slide; CI Holdings Drops Over 7%**

At the close, CI Holdings (03881.HK) fell **7.5%** to **HK$18.10**, while Horizon Robotics (09660.HK) inched up **0.2%** to **HK$4.75**.

China is advancing legislation to assign liability for autonomous driving violations, with a draft law clarifying for the first time automakers' legal responsibility when autonomous driving features are engaged — signaling the sector's entry into national-level regulation. The market is watching whether tighter oversight may impact the commercialization trajectory of autonomous driving firms.

**Big Tech Diverges: Baidu Up Over 5%, Xiaomi Down Over 3%**

At the close, Baidu (09888.HK) rallied **5.3%** to **HK$95.75** on turnover exceeding **HK$3 billion**; Tencent (00700.HK) added **0.5%** to **HK$447.80**; Kuaishou (01024.HK) edged up **0.1%** to **HK$33.66**.
