# AstraZeneca Stock (AZN) Slides Despite New Esophagus Drug Trial Success

Shares in pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca (AZN) and peer Amgen (AMGN) both dropped in pre-market trading despite hailing successful trial results for a new esophagus drug. AZN said that its asthma drug Tezspire, developed in collaboration with Amgen, had met ‌the main goals of a late-stage trial in patients with a chronic inflammatory disorder of the esophagus. This should have been a boost to AZN stock after a series of drug pipeline setbacks this year for diseases such as cancer and heart problems. AZN's share price is down 3.63% in the year-to-date.
