While most eyes are fixed on Big Tech, the real divergences are playing out among these miscellaneous stocks. This matters because they showcase the extreme fragmentation of the current economic cycle: some are rebuilding themselves with AI, some are reaping the rewards of the old economy, and others are simply fighting to survive. Let's start with data provider **FactSet (FDS.US)**. The company recently partnered with Google Cloud to integrate Gemini models into its financial intelligence platform, effectively moving toward next-generation financial agents. They reported an EPS of **USD 4.53** in Q3 2026, beating estimates, and have seen their stock trending upward this year. And yet, not all the massive yields are coming out of Silicon Valley. Traditional mining and energy sectors are putting up stunning numbers. **Warrior Met Coal (HCC.US)** saw its Q2 net profit surge to **USD 87.4 million** driven by the Blue Creek mine, pushing its shares to record highs recently. Fellow metallurgical coal producer **Alpha Metallurgical Resources (AMR.US)** is similarly benefiting from resilient industrial demand. Meanwhile, boosted by record gold prices, **Gold Fields (GFI.US)** posted an attributable profit of **USD 510 million** in H1 and more than doubled its dividend. **Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM.US)** is also riding this commodity supercycle to massive gains. Even rate-sensitive assets are joining the party, with the **Vanguard Real Estate ETF (VNQ.US)** securing a roughly **15%** gain year-to-date on hopes of Fed cuts. The truth, as usual, is more complicated. The old economy's party doesn't mask the severe decay in other pockets. Look at **Hertz (HTZ.US)**. The rental car giant is currently battling securities fraud allegations and recently had to issue new debt with interest rates north of **11%** just to maintain liquidity. Management is trying to boost used car sales with a new 100,000-mile protection plan, but facing such punishing financing costs? Good luck with that. Other companies in transition are struggling too: **ChargePoint (CHPT.US)** is still desperately trying to figure out a profitable model for EV infrastructure, while macro uncertainty leaves investors parking capital in defensive staples and utilities like **Clorox (CLX.US)** and **Korea Electric Power (KEP.US)**. My view is that the market's bifurcation will persist.
