# Apple Slips 1.1% as Face ID Fight Reaches a $218 Billion Engine

Apple fell approximately 1.1% to $324.66 Friday as a new patent battle dragged Face ID into the courtroom. Reuters reported that BASF subsidiary trinamiX claims Apple violated seven patents tied to technology that distinguishes real skin from spoofing materials.

The Texas lawsuit reaches across multiple generations of iPhones, iPad Pro models and other Apple devices. TrinamiX is pursuing unspecified damages and an injunction against further infringement. The case remains an allegation, not a judgment, and Apple had not issued a public response when Reuters published its report.

The financial exposure runs straight through Apple's biggest profit engine. Its financial statements show that iPhones and iPads generated a combined $218.22 billion during the nine months ended June 2759.9% of total revenue. Meanwhile, the stock sits 14.1% above its $284.55 GF Value, signaling that investors are still paying a premium despite the legal cloud. A licensing payment could be absorbed. A forced redesign would carry a much sharper bite.
