# Futu Shortens the Path Between On-Chain Assets and Securities Accounts

Foresight News posted on X (formerly Twitter). Futu is working to shorten the conversion path between on-chain assets and securities accounts. A year ago, Foresight News described Futu's entry into the crypto market as the first move in the transformation of Hong Kong brokerages toward crypto. At the time, a key sign of progress was whether a brokerage app could offer direct crypto trading. A year later, seeing stocks and crypto on the same page is no longer unusual, and the question has shifted to whether the two asset classes can share the purchasing power in an account. At Futu's session at Bitcoin Asia 2026, Futu Group's global head of digital assets, Sherry Zhu, described the change as the difference between account management and asset management. Zhu said users' stocks, ETFs, crypto and fiat currency are still spread across brokerages, exchanges, wallets and banks. Transfers, currency exchange, deposits and withdrawals take time and make wealth management look like account management rather than true asset management. As of June 30, 2026, Futu had 31.25 million users, 3.84 million funded accounts and HK$1.4 trillion in client assets. The large stock of securities assets gives the idea of linking purchasing power practical significance. Futu presented three product directions at the event: crypto deposits for stock purchases, securities-backed trading for crypto, and in-kind subscription and redemption for crypto ETFs.
