# The Market's Blind Spots: Extreme Leverage and Micro-Cap Mayhem

I'm told that the most revealing trades of 2026 aren't happening within the Magnificent Seven, but in the murky waters of triple-leveraged ETFs and micro-caps. This matters because it illustrates just how fragmented and hyper-financialized the market has become.

Take the Direxion Daily Small Cap Bull 3X Shares (TNA.US). It recently saw a brief rally on geopolitical hopes, but the truth, as usual, is more complicated. Crushed by fading rate cut expectations and macro tensions, the fund has eroded long-term wealth, shedding over **10%** over a five-year stretch due to pure volatility decay.

You see the exact same speculative appetite in the AdvisorShares MSOS 2x Daily ETF (MSOX.US), which cratered nearly **35%** in a single day this April amid federal rescheduling news. And yet, traders keep returning, entirely unfazed by the fact that the fund had to restate its NAV due to accounting mishaps.

But there's a catch: occasionally, the absolute wildest bets actually pay off. Driven by Strait of Hormuz capacity squeezes, the Breakwave Tanker Shipping ETF (BWET.US) has posted an absurd **1,700%** return this year. The fact that its assets under management haven't grown significantly tells you everything you need to know—this is pure hit-and-run momentum.

The leverage game knows no borders. The Direxion Daily CSI 300 China A Share Bull 2X Shares (CHAU.US) recently trended higher on festive economic data, while the Direxion Daily S&P 500 High Beta Bull 3X Shares (DRAL.US) maintains a modest **USD 81.6 million** AUM by aggressively indexing volatility. Outside the ETF space, Trekor Metals (TGB.US)—the recently rebranded Taseko Mines—is actually building real physical businesses, pulling in **USD 237 million** in Q1 revenue on strong copper output.

Then we descend into the true anomalies. AI-powered law firm Superlegal (SLE.US) is expanding after a **USD 5 million** seed round, and legacy distributor Alliance Entertainment (AGPU.US) somehow boosted its vinyl record revenue by **15%** to **USD 99 million**. Meanwhile, absolute ghost tickers like Axtual (AXTQ.US) and other unmapped corporate shells or trusts like Twelver (TWLVR.US) exist with almost zero public footprint.

My view is that this miscellaneous bucket is a perfect microcosm of 2026's market weirdness. We have successfully securitized everything from crude tankers to weed to volatility itself. Good luck with that.
