Apple unveils first foldable iPhone, priced from $3,099 in Singapore

Apple has unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, marking the most significant redesign of its flagship product in nearly a decade. The device will start at $3,099 in Singapore for the 256GB model, while the top-end 2TB version will cost $4,899.

Roughly the size and shape of a passport when closed, the Duo has a smaller display on its exterior and unfolds to reveal a wider internal screen that can be used horizontally or vertically.

The iPhone Duo is made with titanium and has a 7.6-inch (19-centimetre) internal display and a 5.4-inch (14-centimetre) external display. Apple says it is the company's thinnest phone when fully opened.

Customers in Singapore will be able to pre-order the iPhone Duo from 8pm on 16 October. It is available in two colours, "star white" and "night sky."

You can find out what's it like to use the iPhone Duo, here.

The launch was Apple's first major product presentation under new chief executive John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook. Ternus positioned the iPhone as a privacy-focused artificial intelligence (AI) hub, while the company introduced an upgraded Siri that is expected to work with 300,000 apps at launch.

Apple also presented the conventional iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max while other announcements included technology intended to verify the authenticity of photos and identify AI-created or altered images.
