# Intel Stock Plunges 4% as Piper Sandler Turns Neutral on Chipmaker

Intel shares dropped about 4% on Thursday after Piper Sandler began covering the chipmaker with a Neutral rating and a $110 price target.

The brokerage said Intel's recent share-price advance leaves less room for further gains in the near term. Its assessment comes as the company works to improve its manufacturing technology and expand demand for its foundry business.

Piper Sandler also pointed to progress in Intel's manufacturing roadmap and signs of increasing interest from customers using its contract chipmaking operations. However, the firm sees execution challenges that could weigh on the company's outlook.

Competition in the semiconductor industry also remains a concern, particularly in data-center markets. Those factors could limit the potential for additional upside despite Intel's recent operational progress.
