Tesla Energy has signed a major 3 GWh Megapack supply agreement with Zhero and H1 Holdings for grid storage projects in Italy. This long-term deal supports Zhero's transition to an owner-operator model, reducing reliance on regulatory frameworks like MACSE. The contract includes an initial 200 MW of shovel-ready developments, leveraging Tesla's new Megapack 3 technology to lower installation costs. This follows other significant global deals, including a $5 billion agreement with NatPower.

Tesla Energy has added another major contract to its already impressive list of Megapack customers. The company has inked a massive deal with Zhero and H1 Holdings to supply high-performance Megapack energy storage batteries for projects in Italy and across multiple other sites.

The agreement covers a total capacity of 3 GWh, and all the projects will be located in Italy. It involves long-term purchase contracts which will help Zhero rely less on Italy’s regulatory support frameworks such as MACSE. Assured market access is crucial to Zhero’s attempt to transition from an ordinary project developer to an owner-operator.

Zhero will install Tesla’s Megapacks, starting with 200 MW of shovel-ready developments. The company currently has a pipeline of 1.5 GW of battery energy storage projects. It aims to capture a larger share of Italy’s commercial and industrial market.

Developers like Zhero will benefit from Tesla’s Megapack 3, which recently entered production in Texas. The latest upgrades reduce installation time and costs, increasing the brand’s global appeal.

Even before the latest version, Megapacks were the favorites of energy developers. Tesla signed a historic $5 billion deal with NatPower that will see more than 25 GWh worth of the batteries installed in the UK and Italy. In the Southern Hemisphere, a Megapack installation will power 44,000 homes in New Zealand. Another development in Queensland, Australia, will store up to 500 MWh of energy and supply the grid for up to two hours.
