Elon Musk reignited speculation of a Tesla-SpaceX merger during an All In Podcast appearance, citing deep collaboration between the firms. Prediction markets indicate a 66% chance of a merger before 2028. While such a deal could trigger an $824 billion payout for Musk under new compensation terms, investor Ross Gerber warned it might be dilutive for shareholders despite creating a 'must-have' global entity.

Elon Musk has yet again fueled talks of a possible merger between EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) and commercial spaceflight company Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX), both of which are led by the billionaire.

Elon Musk Cites Deep Collaboration

During an appearance on the All In Podcast on Monday with SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell, Musk was asked about a possible merger between Tesla and SpaceX.

“Great question,” he said. “With all this collaboration on so many levels, imagine what action one might take when there’s so much close collaboration in so many areas,” Musk said during his appearance on the podcast.

According to bettors on the prediction market platform Kalshi, the odds of a merger between the two companies remain high, with bettors saying there was a 66% chance that the two companies would merge before 2028, while there was a 47% chance that the companies would merge before May next year.

Kalshi and Benzinga have an existing data collaboration agreement.

Elon Musk’s Multi-Billion-Dollar Payday

The comments come as Musk could score an $824 billion payday if Tesla were to merge with SpaceX, as the terms outlined in the new Tesla CEO compensation award for Musk, approved in November 2025 by investors, say that Musk’s compensation would solely be decided on factors like market capitalization if Tesla were to merge or be acquired by a company.

Investor Ross Gerber of Gerber Kawasaki said that if a merger between the two companies takes place, the resulting entity would become a “must-have” for global investors. However, during a conversation with Benzinga, the investor said that a merger would not be a great investment for Tesla investors, while being dilutive for SpaceX investors.
