# Why The Big Short's Bet Against AI Might Not Pan Out

Michael Burry, famous for his bet against the real estate market in 2007, published his long and short positions. Featured in the movie “The Big Short,” he continued to bet against three hot AI-related stocks.

Burry’s biggest shorts are against Oracle (ORCL), Palantir (PLTR), and Nebius (NBIS). However, he trimmed his bet against NVDA and PLTR shares. He did not roll over his December 2026 put options on them.

The bearish bet might not work out. The options require an AI crash by the end of this year. Yet Nvidia continues to make more deals to sell even more GPUs used in AI servers. The firm also acquired Hugging Face to solidify its ownership in AI models.

Circular investing might create substantial risks for Nvidia. If customers buying its GPUs run into financial trouble, it would need to sell AI server hardware. But that would require demand for AI servers to weaken.

SpaceX’s $1 billion per month lease win suggested that demand exceeds AI server supply.  
Palantir’s deep involvement with wars should result in more government contracts. The revenue growth should lift PLTR stock higher.

Nebius is not like CoreWeave (CRWV), which has high debt levels. Despite its strong prospects, bears hold over 20% short interest in NBIS stock. CRWV stock has a smaller short float at 15.96%.
