# Worrying News For Micron Stock Fans

Micron Technology faces a possible strike at its Taiwan operations as a local union pushes for a permanent employee profit-sharing system and threatens to seek a strike vote.

The Taoyuan union, which represents workers at Micron's northern Taiwan site, said it could move toward a strike vote if talks on Sept. 18 and 21 fail to produce a concrete proposal. The dispute centers on a plan to allocate 15% of operating profit to employees worldwide.

Micron recently set aside fiscal 2026 rewards for more than 60,000 workers. Eligible Taiwan employees hired before Aug. 29, 2025, are due a T$1 million ($31,498) cash payment, while later hires will receive prorated amounts. Union representatives said the program does not address their request for an ongoing profit-sharing framework.

Micron said it remains committed to mediation and listening to employees. Taiwan hosts key DRAM and high-bandwidth memory production for Micron, making any labor disruption a potential concern as AI-related demand keeps the memory market tight. The Taoyuan and Taichung unions together represent more than 80% of Micron's roughly 15,000 Taiwan employees.
