The Nasdaq rose 0.97%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.46%. According to Benzinga Pro, Texas grid operator ERCOT disclosed more than 5 gigawatts of conditional power capacity for AI deployments as Bitcoin miners increasingly pivot toward AI infrastructure. ## Sweetwater Hub Strengthens AI Expansion Case The latest development builds on IREN’s Sept. 8 announcement that its 2-gigawatt Sweetwater Hub in Texas was conditionally included as Base Load in ERCOT’s Batch Zero process. The hub includes Sweetwater 1, with 1.4 GW of capacity, and Sweetwater 2, with 600 megawatts. They form part of IREN’s more than 5-GW global data center development portfolio. IREN has already energized the high-voltage substation at Sweetwater 1. The company is also building 300 MW of gross data center capacity there, with delivery targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027. However, ERCOT’s classifications remain conditional and subject to further approvals. **See More: Top Momentum Stocks** ## AI Infrastructure Stocks Rally The ERCOT disclosures also lifted companies in the sector. **Cipher Mining Inc.** (NASDAQ:CIFR) and **Core Scientific Inc.** (NASDAQ:CORZ) traded higher Wednesday. The developments highlighted the power portfolios held by digital infrastructure companies. Access to large amounts of electricity is critical as these operators expand into energy-intensive AI data centers. ## Analyst Upgrade Adds To Momentum Bullish analyst action earlier this week also supported IREN shares. On Monday, **JPMorgan** analyst Reginald Smith upgraded IREN from Underweight to Overweight and raised the firm’s price forecast to $65 from $46. JPMorgan cited IREN’s rapid evolution into a neocloud provider and its partnership with **NVIDIA Corp.** (NASDAQ:NVDA). Also Monday, **BTIG** analyst Gregory Lewis reiterated a Buy rating and maintained an $80 price forecast. ## IREN Technical Analysis IREN traded 4.1% above its 20-day simple moving average of $41.63. It was also 7.5% above its 50-day SMA of $40.29. However, the stock remained 8.2% below its 100-day SMA of $47.22 and 4.9% below its 200-day SMA of $45.58. As a result, the longer-term trend remains mixed. The relative strength index stood at 53.50. That neutral reading suggests the stock is neither overbought nor oversold. IREN’s 20-day SMA is above its 50-day SMA, supporting the near-term trend. However, the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA following an August death cross.
