# Trump: Iran Contacts US Directly; War Nearing Final Stage

US President Donald Trump said Iran has directly contacted Washington seeking negotiations, describing the war as nearing its final stage.

Trump is expected to hold meetings with Gulf state leaders during the United Nations General Assembly in New York next Tuesday to discuss the next steps regarding the Iran war, Axios, citing sources, reported. 

The meeting will reportedly focus on discussing a US-proposed post-war strategic framework. Trump and his senior team are currently formulating post-war plans, which are expected to be finalized after the midterm elections.

International oil prices faded more than 1% this morning (17th), with Brent oil futures last reported at USD104.48 per barrel and New York oil futures at USD101.21 per barrel respectively.
