LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Walmart's Sam's Club is expanding its use of AI, specifically Predictive Precision Targeting and Omni-Impact, to help advertisers identify future customer buying trends. By leveraging membership data and intent signals, the platform predicts high-value customers and measures investment impact. A P&G test demonstrated a 2.3x increase in marketing effectiveness. This move supports Walmart's growing advertising business, which saw a 38% revenue increase in Q2.

Walmart's (WMT) Sam's Club is ramping up its use of AI to help advertisers look into the future and better target its customers with offers. It said that Sam's Club Connect has adopted new Predictive Precision Targeting capabilities and expanded its Omni-Impact measurement solution to "harness membership data to help advertisers identify future growth opportunities and better understand the impact of their investments."

Helping Advertisers Understand Sale Trends

As explained by Walmart, predictive targeting uses AI and machine learning to identify "future high-value customers based on brand-specific purchase potential and long-term value, while Omni-Impact helps advertisers understand how media investments work together and which ones drive incremental sales."

Harvey Ma, Vice President and General Manager of Sam's Club Connect, said that predictive targeting and Omni-Impact represent a shift in how advertisers can plan and prove the value of their investment.

"Most audience targeting relies on what shoppers have purchased before. Sam's Club Connect's Predictive Precision Targeting suite looks at what could come next, using membership data and more than 400 intent signals to understand what members are likely to be interested in," Walmart added. "Advertisers gain a clearer understanding of what members actually want and need, helping make advertising feel more relevant and additive to the experience, while introducing members to products and brands that are right for them."

The P&G Test

As an example, consumer goods giant P&G (PG) wanted to reach Sam's Club members who had not purchased a certain dishwasher product before. Using Predictive Prospect Targeting & LTV models, P&G targeted 800,000 households whose shopping behavior indicated they were likely to buy Cascade Platinum Plus. The campaign delivered a 2.3x increase in marketing effectiveness. The model also predicted that a targeted group of buyers would spend 71% more than their initial purchase during the campaign.

Advertising is becoming increasingly important for Walmart's overall business. In its recent Q2 earnings it said that its global advertising business was up 38%, with strength across segments. Walmart U.S. advertising was also up 38%.
