The surge occurs amid looming labor negotiations in Taiwan, where unions representing 80% of employees seek a permanent profit-sharing system. Despite these talks, no strikes have been called, and production remains uninterrupted. Micron recently reported an 84.6% gross margin driven by tight DRAM supply and high-bandwidth memory demand, highlighting strong financial performance amidst negotiation risks."

# Micron Jumps 5.5% as Labor Claims AI's Margin Windfall

Micron Technology , the AI-memory and storage producer, entered Thursday with labor negotiations looming over its biggest manufacturing base, Reuters reported. The shares jumped approximately 5.5% to $977.502. The valuation picture is just as striking: Micron's share price sits 53.12% above its GF Value estimate of $638.38, showing how aggressively investors are pricing the current AI-memory boom.

Two unions representing more than 80% of Micron's roughly 15,000 employees in Taiwan are pushing for a permanent system that would distribute 15% of global operating profit to workers. Mediation sessions are scheduled for September 18 and September 21. The key point for investors: no strike has been called, and production has not been disrupted. For now, this is a negotiation risk rather than an operating hit.

That distinction matters because Micron is riding extraordinary memory economics. Its latest quarter produced an 84.6% gross margin as tight DRAM supply and surging high-bandwidth-memory demand pushed pricing sharply higher. One-time bonuses let employees participate in a strong year without permanently resetting Micron's cost base; a recurring profit-sharing formula would automatically transfer part of future operating upside to workers. With the stock already trading more than 50% above GF Value, investors are paying a hefty premium for AI scarcityand that makes both manufacturing continuity and future margin discipline increasingly important.
