Palantir Gains as Europe Builds a Sovereign AI Counterweight

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Palantir shares rose 1.2% to $176.455 as Europe develops sovereign AI alternatives like Thales' Hexaforce to reduce reliance on U.S. technology. While NATO uses Palantir's Maven system, European push for local control may limit Palantir's addressable market. However, fragmented national systems could increase demand for Palantir's integration software. No contracts were lost or replaced, leaving the impact on Palantir's expansion uncertain.

Palantir Technologies , the defense and enterprise-AI software company, faces a fresh test in Europe: governments want battlefield AI, but they increasingly want control over the technology running it. Shares gained approximately 1.2% to $176.455 Thursday. The valuation picture remains tight, with Palantir trading just 1.14% below its GF Value of $178.49, leaving the stock close to GuruFocus' estimate of fair value.

NATO has already selected Palantir's Maven Smart System for headquarters operations, but European defense giant Thales is pushing Hexaforce as a sovereign command platform designed to operate without U.S. ITAR restrictions. Thales CEO Patrice Caine said Palantir currently addresses only a limited slice of NATO's broader requirements, while stopping short of arguing that Hexaforce can replace Palantir outright. That distinction matters: this is shaping up less like a winner-takes-all fight and more like a battle over which systems become the connective tissue of Europe's military AI infrastructure.

For investors, sovereignty is the pressure point. European militaries could steer more spending toward locally controlled platforms, potentially narrowing Palantir's addressable role. But fragmented national systems could also increase demand for software capable of connecting different data, command and battlefield environments. Thursday's presentation disclosed no lost Palantir contract, replacement decision or competitor revenue win. The question now is whether Europe's push for technological independence caps Palantir's expansionor makes its integration layer even harder to avoid.
