Chip stocks and major tech shares broadly advanced, while the VIX "fear index" plunged nearly 13% to a near two-week low. On the central bank front, the Bank of England kept interest rates unchanged at 3.75% as expected but raised its inflation forecast, while markets are also watching the Bank of Japan's rate decision today (18th).
