# GE Aerospace names Wes Bush independent lead director

GE Aerospace named former Northrop Grumman Chairman and CEO Wes Bush as independent lead director of its board, succeeding Tom Horton in the role.

The appointment took effect Sept. 21, the company announced Tuesday. Horton, who had served as independent lead director since 2018, will remain on GE Aerospace’s board.

**Aerospace veteran** 

Bush joined the GE Aerospace board as an independent director in 2025. His background includes extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry through his former leadership of Northrop Grumman.

He also serves on the boards of Dow and General Motors .

Bush’s appointment comes as GE Aerospace operates as a standalone company following the breakup of General Electric. GE Aerospace became independent in 2024 after GE completed the separation of its energy businesses into GE Vernova.

**Horton remains on board**

Horton became GE’s independent lead director in 2018, a period that encompassed the restructuring and eventual breakup of the former conglomerate.

He previously served as chairman and CEO of American Airlines and currently is a senior adviser at Global Infrastructure Partners. He also serves on the boards of Chevron and Walmart .

The change in lead director doesn’t affect H. Lawrence Culp Jr.’s position as chairman and CEO of GE Aerospace.
